Clash Detection

Detect and manage clashes between two BIM models directly in the viewer.

Using Clash Detection

Clash Detection finds intersections between two loaded models so you can catch coordination issues before they reach the site. It's a panel inside the BIM comparison viewer, reached from the Site Dashboard (see the Progress Tracking guide for the viewer itself), and is disabled by default — it needs to be turned on for your platform.

1. Running a Detection

1. Pick Your Models:

  • Select Model A and Model B from the models currently loaded (at least two are required). 2. Configure Ignored Categories (optional):
  • By default, categories like spaces, openings, annotations, grids, and virtual elements are excluded from results. Adjust this if needed. 3. Run Detection:
  • Click Run detection. A progress bar tracks the phases: reading model geometry, filtering candidate pairs, and testing intersections. If detailed geometry isn't available, it automatically falls back to a bounding-box-only pass.

2. Reviewing Results

  • Each detected clash appears as a numbered pin in the 3D scene, matching a row in the results list.
  • Filter results by review status: Open, Reviewed, Resolved, or Ignored (your filter choices are remembered per model pair).
  • Step through clashes with next/previous or the J/K keys.
  • Use Isolate to hide everything except the clashing pair, and toggle Markers visibility as needed.

3. Acting on a Clash

  • Use Create task on any clash to open a task-creation sheet, pre-filled with a screenshot and both clashing elements attached.

4. Re-Running Detection

  • Running detection again reconciles against the previous run and reports how many clashes are new, unchanged, or resolved — so you can track coordination progress over time.
